Parallel lines - representing dessign is not a single way road. I care about subjective & objective, rational & emotional,
Arrow heads - pointing on different directions which define as I concern about multiple solutions, as there is never only one option in design.
Fillets / round corners are presenting myself as an variable person. It is unnecessory to hold it tightly on any point of view, listen to each of te opinion would direct to the best way.
Colour proportion - the dark blue on the letter L represent the subjective thinking - it is eye- catching but not too much aggressive. the gray on the letter R shows my objective thinking - stable, mature and on-earth. The most important part is highlighted arrow head in amber stands for my innovation motivates design going forward.
“An idea’s connector” aims at link up ideas in the world, combines them and shows to clients the best result with creativity, innovative and aesthetic.
My interest in design dates back to my years in secondary school. I was enrolled to the Art and Design class in which I started to build my basic skills of aesthetics. In the class, I had the opportunities to lead my class committees to arrange design works such as the notice board decoration. It seemed I could find happiness and satisfaction in an Art and Design career.
When I began my study in the technical institute, I was exposed to the full range of design courses. All of which reinforced and solidified my intense interest in design. In this period, I also studied about Jewellery and Toy industries. From these, I was acquainted with the appreciation of preciousness in the jewellery field and creative thinking in the toy field.
How fortunate I was to have the boss of my first job attending my graduation presentation in the institute. He chose three fresh graduates, including me, as the trainees to work in his wrist watch company in an international business environment. The training was all-rounded, and I was well aware that designing good products is the solution to balance clients’ brand images, end consumers’ needs, manufacturing costs, and innovative and aesthetic judgement.
To communicate with our clients, I had the chances to visit them with my colleagues. I could directly get the sense of their brand images and understand their local culture, so that I could integrate these essences into my designs to match the clients’ brand images. I also attended the international exhibitions, such as the BaselWorld and Vicenza Jewellery Fair, where I caught up with the latest development in the industries, learnt about the trend-forecasting, and conceived my ideas with the use of new materials. Business trips widened my vision.
Following the business development of my company in the Mainland China, I took part in starting up a design department in the Guangzhou office. As an experienced designer, I was responsible for developing the skills of our first Chinese designer. Although I was not directly the in-charge of the design department, I was proud to participate and witness the development of the team, and was grateful for the practical experiences accumulated in working in China.
I became a mid-management after changing my job, which I started as a design supervisor and later promoted to be an assistant design manager. In these positions, I was required to identify the different strengthens of each team member, motivate them to cooperate with each other to complete the projects in the best way, negotiate with other departments, proceed our designs in the best way to bring a variety of new products to the customers. Although I did not think I was a good leader, walking through the 9 years of management, I come to realise my strengthens and weaknesses.
I resigned from my previous job in 2015, and became a freelance designer until now. This change benefits me on the flexible time management between working hours, and spending on my family. I gain the happiness from my family life in this few years. As my daughter is now attending school, I want to be a role model to show her how interesting study is. Therefore, I am undertaking the bachelor degree of graphic design, which is programmed by the University of Sunderland, U.K. This is my goal of studying concerning family.
I have attended church since childhood, and take part in a choir. In the concert organised by our choir in 2015, I participated as a committee. Using the knowledge in a choir. In the concert organised by our choir in 2015, I participated as a committee. Using the knowledge gained in my career, I was in charge of design and publicising. In addition, I also participated in the committee at my daughter's graduation ceremony in her kindergarten to mobilise and coordinate parents so as to bring lovely memories to our children.
In fact, I felt stressed in my previous position as the scope was too narrow. I would like to know more about how the innovative teams, not only in Hong Kong but also in the world, run their businesses. To achieve this, understanding of sustainable design policy is important, which shows how they positively impact of all phrases of a product’s life cycle, including design, production, distributing channels and decommissioning. This pathway aimed to reduce consumption of non-renewable resources, minimise waste, and create health, productive environments.
Furthermore, I enjoy to be a good team player to motivate the team to work effectively and efficiently, and to do this, I want to expand my horizon. Hence, I look forward to working in different positions such as merchandising (moving backward in the supply chain) and engineering (moving forward), drawing upon my 24 years of experience in the design field.
